An Antarctic Mystery

An Antarctic Mystery (also known as The Sphinx of the Ice Fields) is a sequel to Edgar Allan Poe’s The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket. The story follows Jeorling, an American traveler stranded on the Kerguelen Islands, who joins the Halbrane, a whaling ship commanded by Captain Len Guy. The crew embarks on a dangerous voyage to Antarctica after discovering evidence suggesting that Pym and his companions may still be alive. As they venture further south, they encounter treacherous icebergs, brutal storms, and the enigmatic dangers of the Antarctic. The novel builds suspense as they unravel the mystery surrounding Pym’s last expedition.
